VACUUM INDUSTRIES, SERIES 3530, MODEL 3024, "WORKHORSE-2", HIGH VACUUM FURNACE WITH A 12"W X 12"H X 24"D MIXED TUNGSTEN HEATING ELEMENT, MOLYBDENUM HOT ZONE
The heating elements in this system are "rod-hairpin" 3/8" OD tungsten, for very rapid heat-up capability, in a 12 layer "all-moly" shield pack for use to 1,800°C. The system has redundant high vacuum pumping systems using both a CTI-8 cryopump and a cryotrapped Varian VHS-6 diffusion pump system.

It is normally used for ultra high vacuum processes down to 10-9 Torr where the start-up of the process may involve the release of a large binder load or other decomposition product that may otherwise be detrimental to the cryopump operation. It may also be used for very critical operations with reactive metals, where the assurance of having a stand-by high vacuum pumping system is warranted for risk reduction.

This system has demonstrated MIL-SPEC temperature uniformity of better than: +/-10°F up to 1,230°C maximum as demonstrated by full quarterly survey testing in accordance with AMS 2750.
