The system is configured with a cryotrapped diffusion pump stack, and has two independent 2.5" rams which stroke 14" through a water-cooled die support plate.
The system has been previously run at temperatures over 2,600°C, using less than half of the available 35 KW - 9,600 HZ solid-state induction power supply. Instrumentation includes, two different optical pyrometers, and both tungsten-rhenium and platinum-rhodium thermocouples for measuring temperatures to 3,500°C.
